Before the Chuseok holiday, Ashley and I had decided that we wanted to high Sunrise Peak... and that was as far as our planning went. We slept in on Wednesday, and after dinking around in our apartment for awhile, we finally left at 3 pm. We went to the Jeju Grand Hotel and asked the concierge how to utilize the bus system.
We got on the bus as directed, but then checked with passengers to confirm we were on the right bus. An elderly woman, who spoke no English at all, put her hand on her chest to indicate that she would take care of us. We were only on the bus for about 7 minutes when the old woman started shooing us off, we were confused because we were told that the ride was 1 hour and 20 minutes, but the woman was adamant so we got off and went in side the terminal to try to figure out our next step.
It turns out that we were at the main terminal and needed to transfer from the Jeju city bus to an intercity bus. Hoping that we were now on the right bus, we settled in for the ride.
We arrived in Seongsan Ilchulbong at 5 pm, without a hotel reservation. We had researched a hotel online, but couldn't locate it. We stumbled upon a motel priced at $30/night with free WiFi, we decided that it was perfect :)
The manager of the establishment spoke almost no English, but was very kind.
We were instructed to remove our shoes in the entryway and provided with blue, slip-on house shoes.
Making memories :)
We strolled around town for a bit before settling in early for the night.
