Ashley and I just came back from a whirlwind adventure in south Vietnam.
Departing from Jeju, it took us over 24 hours to get to our final destination of Mui Ne, Vietnam.
It was worth it!
At first, we were nervous!
After landing in Ho Chi Minh Airport, we took a four hour taxi ride on Death Highway and saw nothing but poverty the entire way. We we scared, what had we gotten ourselves into!
The streets were packed with cars, buses, and mostly scooters!
Entire families would commute on these scooters, mom, dad, and children all together!
The road markings were interpreted as very loose guidelines, drivers rarely stayed in the lines.
Everyone was honking at each other!!!
Luckily, we survived the treacherous drive!
We finally arrived in Mui Ne at 6 pm on Friday night.
It was dark once we arrived.
Ashley and I were already on edge after the drive to the hotel. When we checked in, the concierge requested to keep our passports for the duration of our stay. We were skeptical, having friends from school who had their passports stollen while traveling over Christmas break.
We saw a couple walking through the hotel lobby and asked for their recommendation.
Christopher (from Germany) and his Vietnamese wife ensured us that our hotel was safe (having stayed there before) and it was standard routine to hold onto passports. They invited us to dinner and gave us the inside scoop on the town, where to eat and where to beach!
Thank goodness for this couple, they made our trip by recommending we eat at a certain restaurant, which led to more adventures :)
